Howe Elementary School Student Council was looking for a good cause to support for a community service project and decided that a "Bucks for Buddies" drive to benefit Animal Friends was the perfect fit. The students shared their idea with the 5th grade class and the students got to work on earning "bucks" to donate to a very good cause. As a result, they raised $300 one dollar bills to donate to Animal Friends.
On April 5th, Mrs. Gina Carlos, chairperson of the board of Animal Friends visited Howe and met with the student council. The students told her about their own special pets that they loved very much and explained why they wanted to help the animals at Animal Friends. Mrs. Carlos shared stories of all the good work being done at Animal Friends to rescue, shelter and care for animals that were abandoned, sometimes mistreated, and ill. She told the students how their $300 "bucks" would help support the pups, kittens and bunnies until they were adopted by a loving home. Thank you Howe students for a great effort to help a wonderful organization!
