WQED announced the finalists of its 2018 PBS KIDS Writers Contest made possible locally by the EQT Foundation. One of our 4th Grade students, Xerin Qireyffah, has been selected as a finalist.
Partnering with WQED on its Writers Contest this year was West Virginia Public Broadcasting (WVPB), and PBS 39 (WLVT) serving eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, and WPSU in State College, serving central Pennsylvania. Twenty-six finalists were chosen from more than 1,000 stories received from throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, and Delaware.
From May 11-18, 2018, the public is invited to vote for the "Reader's Choice Winner." All finalists' stories will be available to read and listen to via WQED's Writers Contest page at 2018 Writer Contest Winners. Please take time to read Xerin's entry entitled, Kiera, and vote for her. We would love to see her work be chosen as this year's top entry.
