A group of Mt. Lebanon High School students were awarded with the Allegheny County Human Relations Commission (ACHRC) 2019 Diversity Awards in May. The award recognizes and thanks students and student groups that demonstrate their dedication to diversity and non-discrimination in our communities. Jonah Silverman, Henry Silverman, Georgina Dinardo, Dan Helmeci, Cosette Drook. Grace Rowing, Madison Bradley and Nora Kogan were selected for The Devil's Advocate coverage of the Tree of Life shooting and Hannah Jones for her artwork for the Mt. Lebanon Municipality's Unity in the Community campaign. The students were honored at a ceremony with County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and members of County Council.

The Diversity Awards are open to students in grades 9-12 and was created to build greater community awareness of the ACHRC and its mission, as well as to highlight student work that benefits the protected classes over which the ACHRC has jurisdiction.

The ACHRC was established in 2009 to assure that all persons, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry or place of birth, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, familial status, age or use of a guide or support animal because of blindness, deafness or physical disability, enjoy the full benefits of citizenship and are afforded equal opportunities for employment, housing and use of public accommodation facilities.
