Washington Elementary Librarian Sarah Beckman, was one of only 24 public school librarians from across the state selected to participate in the Mini Regional Leaders Academy for PA School Librarians. Ms Beckman was chosen to participate in this six-day leadership immersion cohort to develop her leadership and pedagogical skills.
The selected participants represent 17 of the 29 PA Intermediate Units and 22 of the 69 PA counties. MRLA is a collaborative effort of the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association and the University of Pittsburgh School Library Certification Program and is funded by a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the PA Department of Education.
As one of the 24 librarians in the MRLA cohort, Ms. Beckman will join the 87 active PA librarians who have participated in the first four Leaders Academies. As one of the dedicated school librarians selected competitively from across Pennsylvania, Ms. Beckman will have the opportunity to expand and test her leadership competencies during the Academy. With like-minded, energetic librarians, coaches, and mentors, she will polish communication, interpersonal relations, and presentation skill-set and contribute to the advancement of school libraries in Pennsylvania.
Congratulations to Sarah Beckman on this outstanding recognition and selection.
