Posted 08/30/2018 02:48PM

New for this school year, and as a result of our ongoing partnership with the Mt. Lebanon Police Department, MLPD Officer Bryan Henley has been assigned as the School Resource Officer (SRO) to Mt. Lebanon High School for the 2018-19 school year and beyond. In addition to all required training for veteran Mt. Lebanon Police Officers, Officer Henley is also certified as an SRO by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) and well as being qualified to provide ALiCE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) emergency response training.

Officer Henley transitioned to the high school while participating in various staff in-service programs and he officially began his new role on the first day of school. SRO Henley will continue in a similar capacity as the previous SRO who temporarily joined the high school this past spring. He will serve as a presence in the high school throughout the regular school day and strengthen relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Officer Henley is a graduate of Mercyhurst College with a degree in law enforcement and juvenile justice. Prior to becoming a police officer, he worked as a counselor at Pressley Ridge School, which serves children and families with complex challenges and as a substitute school teacher in Penn Hills. Then, after a four-year stint in the Air Force, he graduated from the Allegheny County Police Academy and has worked for MLPD for 15 years.
