On October 24, Dr. Tim Steinhauer and Police Chief Aaron Lauth held a School Community Conversation on School Safety and Security in the High School Auditorium. This event was a continuation of the discussion held last March to discuss issues related to the safety and security practices in the District. Last night, Dr. Steinhauer and Chief Lauth gave an update on the safety enhancements made since last year, including the hiring of an SRO in the high school and the completion of a risk assessment of each school conducted by the MLPD. The School Board also allocated $1 million that will fund prioritized items in the assessments. Dr. Steinhauer also shared the District's multi-layered approach to support the mental health and well-being of our students using evidence-based strategies that create safe and secure school environments.
