About the PTA

Howe PTA is a unit member of the Mt. Lebanon Council PTA, the Pennsylvania PTA, and the National PTA. We invite all Howe parents, guardians, teachers, and staff to become a member of Howe PTA. We sincerely appreciate your support.

We have six PTA meetings from September to May. Join us to keep up on the latest news and share your concerns and ideas.

Howe PTA raises funds to support programs for Howe students and families, and to purchase educational materials for the students.

Some of our annual events these funds make possible include:
Sunny Funny Fair--a carnival featuring games, an art pavilion, food, prizes, and a silent raffle auction.
Family Events/Game Night--a fun evening featuring things like games or movies; it's a great way for Howe families to get together.
Scholastic Book Fair--a book sale that makes it easy to add to your home library.
Winterfest Holiday Shop--a "two-day sale" where students can pick out small gifts for family members or crafts to make them, as well as some fun stuff for themselves.
Spelling Bees for 1st-3rd Grades and 4th-5th Grades--a great way to encourage students to improve their spelling and take pride in their hard work.
Science Fair--a fun way for students to find their "inner inventor" and display their scientific knowledge.
Howe's Got Talent--a great way for Howe students to show their many talents, including dance, music, magic, and more!
Health and Safety Fair--a hands-on event devoted to teaching students important safety tips and encouraging healthy habits.

We also offer programs such as:
Cultural Arts
--which provides educational school assemblies for the students.
Parent Education--which provides information for parents and guardians on issues affecting parents/guardians and students and coordinates special speakers.
Vision Screening--one of the oldest PTA committees, this program trains volunteers to screen area preschool children for vision difficulties and is part of PTA's commitment to promote the welfare of children in the community.
Juvenile Protection--a committee that works with the municipality on pedestrian safety issues--including traffic and parking--around local schools.
Safewalk--a program in which volunteers confirm that students who walk to school have arrived safely.

In addition, the PTA sends out informative e-mail blasts and publishes a school directory.
